Brake Warning Indicator Does Not Come On When Brake Fluid Is Low
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Set parking brake. Release parking brake. If BRAKE indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE indicator does not illuminate, go to BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect brake fluid level sensor connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between brake fluid level indicator switch harness connector terminals "A" (Black wire) and "B" (Purple wire). If BRAKE indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE indicator does not illuminate, go to step 4 .
- Replace brake fluid level indicator switch. Recheck system operation.
- Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between brake fluid level indicator switch harness connector terminals "B" (Purple wire) and ground. If BRAKE indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE indicator does not illuminate, go to step 6 .
- Repair poor connection or open in Black wire between brake fluid level indicator switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
- Repair poor connection or open in Purple wire between brake fluid level indicator switch and splice S286 (located in instrument panel harness under right side of instrument panel, about 2" from EBCM/EBTCM breakout). Recheck system operation.
