Diagnostic Procedures
- Check for binding, sticking or broken gauge switch. If gauge switch is okay, use scan tool to clear DTC. Turn ignition off. Disconnect gauge switch. Turn ignition on. Wait 60 seconds. Check for DTCs. If DTC B1523 is present, go to next step. If DTC B1523 is not present, go to step 3).
- Check Black wire between Driver Information Center (DIC) terminal "C" and IPC connector terminal A9 for short to ground. If short exists, locate and repair as necessary. If Black wire is okay, go to next step.
- Using a DVOM, measure resistance between connector terminals "C" and "H" of DIC. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, check for an intermittent problem by performing a "wiggle test" for any poor connections. Repair as necessary.
- Replace gauge switch. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
