Diagnostic Procedures
- Check for binding, sticking or broken English/metric switch. If English/metric switch is okay, use scan tool to clear DTC. Turn ignition off. Disconnect English/metric switch. Turn ignition on. Wait 60 seconds. Check for DTCs. If DTC B1521 is present, go to next step. If DTC B1521 is not present, go to step 3).
- Check Black wire between Driver Information Center (DIC) terminal "G" on base model DIC, or terminal "B" on uplevel DIC and IPC connector terminal B9 for short to ground. See Figure and Figure . If short exists, locate and repair as necessary. If Black wire is okay, go to next step.
- Using a DVOM, measure resistance between connector terminals "G" and "H" on base model DIC or terminals "B" and "H" on uplevel DIC. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, check for an intermittent problem by performing a "wiggle test" for any poor connections. Repair as necessary.
- Replace English/metric switch. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
