Removing the system battery
WARNING:
Working on 12 V electrical system.

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

- Cover the vehicle battery.
Preliminary work
- Refer to DEACTIVATING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
- Release the detent (2) of the protective cap (1).
- Feed the protective cap (1) upwards out of the guides (3) and remove.
- Remove the cover for the positive battery terminal (1).
- Loosen nut (2).

Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.
- Detach the positive battery terminal (3) from the positive battery terminal.

- Cover the vehicle battery.
- Locate positive battery terminal (3) laterally.
- Pull off the vent hose (1) on the system battery.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove the battery rollover protection bracket (2).
- Loosen screw (3).
- Remove the battery carrier (4).
- Release vehicle battery (5) in direction of arrow and remove by the grab handles.
