Replacing the coarse thread bolt and threaded weld bolts (steel surface)
NOTE:
Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.
- Renew the coarse thread bolt (1) and the threaded weld bolt (2).
Parts: Coarse thread bolt, threaded weld bolt
Take the number and position from the component to be replaced or the add-ons.
- Weld the coarse thread bolt (1) and threaded weld bolt (2) onto the new part.
- Adjust the luggage compartment floor and secure.
- Prepare the joints in areas (1) and (2) using the bond-and-rivet method.
- In areas (1) and (2), transfer holes arising due to removal to new part. Drill out holes to Ø 6.8 mm.
- Prepare area (3) for joining by welding.
- Replace welded connection (1) with a MAG weld seam (2). In area (2), prepare a MAG weld seam with length 10 mm. Ensure sufficient distance to the bonded rivet connection (3).
- Prepare the new part in area (1) for joining by welding.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
For additional information see: SPOT-WELD BONDING STEEL COMPONENTS REP-ALG-RAGRP41-4105701 - V.3 (M5 2018-2022, M5 Competition 2019-2022, M5 CS 2022) .NOTE: To provide a better overview: Shown without side panel. - Prepare area (1) for joining by welding. Make sure that the distance to the adhesive area (2) is thereby sufficient. Observe the procedures for the replacement of spot-welded adhesive joints of the series.
- Prepare area (2) for joining using the rivet-and-bonding method.
- Apply the existing holes in the side member onto the new part in area (2). Drill holes with Ø 6.8 mm.
- Remove new component. Deburr bores.
