- Before performing any work on the airbag, always disconnect the battery ground lead from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
- Refer to REMOVING AIRBAG UNIT .
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
- Disconnect connector (1) and remove cable to shift paddle.
- Loosen screw (2).
- Remove shift paddle (1) from steering wheel (2) and remove associated access line.
