Remove airbag unit

- Before performing any work on the airbag, always disconnect the battery ground lead from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

Incorrect handling of the tool may damage the steering wheel.

- Make sure the position (angle and inclination) of the tool is correct.
- When unlocking, do not use "levering" action. Instead, press in the Torx screwdriver toward the center of steering wheel only.
- Feel the back of the steering wheel to locate the pre-bore (1).
- Insert the Torx screwdriver T27 obliquely upwards into the hidden opening (1) on the rear of the steering wheel until a springy resistance is felt.NOTE: To provide a better overview: Schematic diagram with airbag unit removed.
- Press the Torx screwdriver T27 (1) straight in the direction of the steering wheel center to unlock the wire spring (2) or unlock the airbag unit.
- Push the Torx screwdriver T27 (1) straight into the center of the steering wheel and lift the airbag unit.
- Repeat procedure on left side and carefully remove airbag unit in the direction of the arrow.
- Unlock and disconnect the plug connection (1) and remove the airbag unit.
