51 32 170 Removing And Installing/Replacing Front Left Or Right Door Window (Coupe, Convertible)

Necessary Preliminary Tasks:

Remove sound insulation from front door. Refer to 51 48 ... REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SOUND INSULATION IN LEFT OR RIGHT FRONT DOOR (CONVERTIBLE, COUPE) .
Remove window cavity cover strip on inside of front door. Refer to 51 21 330 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING WINDOW CAVITY STRIP ON INSIDE FRONT DOOR (COUPE) .

Open door window glass (1) by distance (A).

A = approx. 80 mm.

Disconnect plug connection (1) from power window motor (2) (risk of trapping).

Installation:

Convertible From Build Date 09/2003:

Carry out normalization. Refer to 67 62 000 REMOVING AND INSTALLING / REPLACING FLAT MOTOR FOR FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT POWER WINDOW UNIT .

NOTE: Screw has left-hand thread; turn clockwise to release.

Release bolt (1).

Tightening torque, refer to 51 32 2AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 3-SERIES .

Installation:

Insert door window glass in guide rail (2).

NOTE: Screw has left-hand thread; turn clockwise to release.

Release screw (1).

Installation:

Insert door window glass (4) in guide rail (3).

Install screw (1) with adjusting sleeve (2) through guide rail (3) and door window glass (4).

Tightening torque, refer to 51 32 2AZ in BODY EQUIPMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - 3-SERIES .

Remove door window glass (1) from front door (2).

Installation:

Adjust door window glass. Refer to 51 32 154 ADJUSTING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR WINDOW GLASS (COUPE, CONVERTIBLE) .

NOTE: Rubber ring (1) may be damaged during removal of door window glass.

If necessary, replace rubber ring (1).

Replacement:

Lever out threaded sleeve (1).

Remove shim (2) with clamping plate from door window glass (3).

NOTE: Convertible Only: Door window glass is partly coated with Aquapell; this is identified by a white dot on the door window glass.

Installation:

Installing shim:

Attach shim (1) to clamping plate (2).
Slide shim (1) and clamping plate (2) onto door window glass, press together until all catches (2) snap into place in bore.
Insert threaded sleeve (4) through bore until it snaps into place.
