Removal & Installation (6-Cylinder)

  1. To remove exhaust camshaft sensor, go to next step. To remove intake camshaft sensor, remove intake air filter housing. Remove VANOS adjustment solenoid valve located next to oil filter housing. See 11 36 570 REPLACING SOLENOID VALVE FOR INLET SIDE ON VANOS ADJUSTMENT UNIT . Disconnect sensor electrical connector. Remove sensor screw. Remove sensor from cylinder head. See Fig 1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace sealing ring as necessary.
  2. Disconnect exhaust camshaft sensor connector on front of cylinder head. Remove sensor screw. Remove sensor from cylinder head. See Fig 2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace sealing ring as necessary.
