Installing tail light onto side panel at right

Install the tail light on the side panel 

Check 

• Check the seals (1) and (2) for damage, replace if necessary.
• Protective films on the contact surfaces (3) of the tail light must not be damaged or missing.

  Missing protective films can cause paintwork damage and corrosion.

• Front adjusting element (4) of the tail light must be in screwed-in position.

Result 

» Front adjusting element (4) is not in screwed-in position.

Measure

• Screw in the front adjusting element (4) counterclockwise.

• Connect the connector (1) with the tail light (2).

  The connector (1) must engage audibly.

• Lock the lock (3) of the connector (1) in arrow direction.
• Clip in the wiring harness with the holder (4) at the tail light (2).

• Insert the tail light (1) in arrow direction and press it in the center.
• Turn nuts (2) until hand-tight.

Check 

• In area (arrows), the upper edge of the tail light (1) must be recessed for the lower edge of the side panel (2).

Result 

» Upper edge of the tail light (1) is not recessed for the lower edge of the side panel (2).

Measure

Release the nuts (3) and adjust the tail lights (1) by twisting the rear adjusting elements (4).

• Press the tail light (1) in the center and tighten the nuts (2).

Side panel tail light to body
Instrument cluster - hexagon nut	Tightening torque	3 Nm

• Press the tail light (1) from outside and move it up against the contact surfaces (arrows).
• Press and hold the tail light (1) on the outside and manually unscrew it in the cargo area of the front adjusting element (2) in a clockwise direction up to the stop.
• Tighten the nut (3) hand-tight.

Check 

• Check the gap dimension (A) between the tail light (1) and the side panel.

Gap dimension in area A	1 +1-1 mm

Result 

» Gap dimension (A) does not correspond to the specification.

Measure

• Release the nut (2) and repeat the preceding step.
  • Tighten nut (1).
