Replace Trunk Lid

Preliminary work 

• Refer to REMOVE TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .
• Refer to REMOVING THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL LIGHTS ON THE TAILGATE .
• Refer to REMOVING THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
• Refer to REMOVE THE TAILGATE BUTTON .
• Refer to REMOVE STRIKER FOR THE TAILGATE LATCH .

Precondition 

New part is painted.

• Unclip buzzer (1). Unlock associated plug connection and disconnect.
• Remove the buzzer (1).
• Unlock and disconnect all the plug connections of wiring harnesses (2) to the tailgate.
• Release wiring harnesses (2) from the tailgate at the marked attachment points (arrows) and keep them aside.

  • Mask those working areas at risk with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
  • Remove and install heavy or bulky components with the aid of another person/other persons.

• Release screws (1) and remove the tailgate.
• Replace trunk lid.

  Parts  : Tailgate

• Position the tailgate on the tailgate hinges.
• Tighten the screws (1).
  TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
  
  

  Tailgate hinge on trunk lid
  Hexagon screw, M8x18
  	Tightening torque	19 Nm

• Carefully close the tailgate and check for bodywork contact. If necessary, position the tailgate again.

• Clip in the wiring harnesses (2) into the attachment points (arrows).
• Connect all connectors of the wiring harnesses (2) to the tailgate and lock them.
• Connect and lock the associated connector (1) of the buzzer and install the buzzer.

  NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
• Unclip the cover (1) at the clips (2).

  NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
• Push through the pins (1) of the stop pad (2) and remove the stop pad (2).
• Mount the stop pad (2) on the tailgate.
• Drive in the pins (1) of the stop pad (2) until they are flush.
• Remount the clips (1) for the license plate.

• Remount all seal plugs (1).

• Remount the cover (1) on the tailgate and clip in using the clips (2).
