Replacing the rear spring strut

Preliminary work 

• Refer to REMOVING LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR COVERING .
• Refer to IF INSTALLED: REMOVING THE THIRD-ROW SEATING .
• Refer to REMOVING THE REAR LEFT WHEEL .
• Refer to REMOVING THE COVER OF THE CAMBER CONTROL ARM .
• Refer to REMOVING THE CAMBER CONTROL ARM .
• Refer to DISCONNECTING THE PLUG CONNECTION ON THE SPRING STRUT .
• Refer to REMOVING REAR SPRING STRUT .
• Refer to PREPARING THE SPRING TENSIONER .
• Refer to TENSION THE COIL SPRING .
• Refer to REMOVING THE SPRING STRUT SUPPORT BEARING .

• Pull down the auxiliary damper with protective tube (1) from the piston rod.

• Guide out and remove the rear spring strut (1) with spring pad (2) from the coil spring.

• Replace the rear spring strut (1).

  Parts  : Spring strut, rear

• Check spring pad (2), auxiliary damper (3) and protective tube (4) and, if necessary, replace them.
• Position spring pad (2) on the new rear spring strut (1),

• Guide the rear spring strut (1) into the coil spring with spring pad (2).

• Slide the auxiliary damper onto the piston rod with protective tube (1).
