Replacing the left radial shaft seal

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Radial shaft seal ring are equipped with an installation protection ring. The installation protection ring is used to protect the sealing lip when installing the output shaft.

Remove the radial shaft seal

Pull out radial shaft seal with the aid of special tools 0 490 466 (00 5 010) and 0 495 597 (24 2 354) .

Replace radial shaft seal at front.

Remove the assembly protection ring (1) from the radial shaft sealing ring (2).

Install the radial shaft seal

Coat the housing of the sheet metal flange of the radial shaft seal with the approved front differential fluid.
Drive in the radial shaft seal to the stop using the special tool 0 493 539 (31 5 130) .
Remove special tool 0 493 539 (31 5 130) .

Reinstall installation protection ring (1) in radial shaft seal (2).
