TECHNICAL INFORMATION
After a brake pad exchange and before pressing the brake pedal: It is imperative to apply the electromechanical parking brake.
If this is not observed, a CC message appears and the brake system switches to the emergency program. The brake booster is no longer active.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When the engine is stopped after the completion of trip, it may be necessary to run the electric fan. In rare cases, operation of the electric fan can last up to 11 min. This protects the components. In this case, replacing the electric fan will not remedy the problem!

Secure the swivel bearing
- Refer to DISCONNECTING THE CONNECTOR FROM VERTICAL ACCELERATION SENSOR ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .

- Refer to LOOSENING AND TYING UP BRAKE CALIPER, LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Removing the spring strut holder.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Loosen nut (1).
- Punch in the swivel bearing (2) at the front towards the inner.
- Pull out screw (3).
Marking the installation position of the spring strut holder
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Different variants may be installed depending on the vehicle equipment.- Version A:
Mark the installation position of the spring strut holder (1) for the spring strut (2) before the removal.
To do this, it is mandatory to make a color marking (3) in the extension of the edge (4).
- Version B:
Mark the installation position of the spring strut holder (1) for the spring strut (2) before the removal.
To do this, it is mandatory to make a color marking (3) in the extension of the edge (4).
- Version A:
- Release the screw (1) from the spring strut holder (2).
- Position the special tool 0 494 541 (31 2 230) as shown and spread the spring strut holder (1).NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Failure to comply with the specification. Component damage.
All specifications must be observed and complied with. - Protecting the output shaft from damage with a towel is mandatory (1).
- Release swivel bearing (2) from the attachment on the upper wishbone.
- Guide out and remove spring strut holder (3) downwards in the arrow direction.
- Fasten the swivel bearing (1) by using the special tool 2 413 317
to protect it from tilting outwards.
Swivel bearing (1) must not hang down from the brake hose.
Secure the swivel bearing
- Removing left and right output shaft.NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
- Position the aluminum drift (1) on the output shaft (2).
- Knock out the output shaft (2) from the front axle transmission with an aluminum mandrel (1).
- Release swivel bearing (1) from the special tool 2 413 317
on the upper control arm. Swivel bearing (1) must not hang down from the brake hose.
- Guide out and remove driven shaft (1) in arrow direction.
- Fasten swivel bearing (1) with the special tool 2 413 317
to protect it from tilting outwards.

Screw connection of upper oil sump section
- Remove rubber plug (1) .
NOTE:
Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.
- Unscrew the transmission bolts (1)

- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock plug connection (2) and disconnect.
- Release, feed out and remove the oil pressure sensor (3) .
- Loosen the clamp (arrow).
- Release the cable (1)
from the clamp (2)

- Loosen screw (25) to (3) .

- Support the oil pan using special tools 2 219 012

- Guide out and remove upper oil sump section (3) with the help of an support person.
