Installing starter motor
Installing the starter on vehicles with all-wheel drive
- Make sure that the acoustic cover (1) is not damaged.
- Carefully push the acoustic cover (1) aside.
- Insert and install the starter (3) in the direction of the arrow.
- Tighten down screws (2).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Starter motor to crankcase M8x60 Tightening torque 19 Nm - Position acoustic cover.
- Mount expanding rivets (1) at rear on the acoustic cover.
- Replace (2) clip.
Parts: clip
- Mount the clip (2).
- Mount expanding rivet (1) in the center of the acoustic cover.
- Mount expanding rivets (1) in front on the acoustic cover.
- Version 1:
- Connect the positive battery cable on the starter and secure it with the nut (1).
- Tighten the nut (1).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Battery positive lead to starter M8 Tightening torque 13.5 Nm - Connect cable (terminal 50) on the starter and fasten with the nut (2).
- Tighten the nut (2).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Terminal 50 to starter motor M6 Tightening torque 7.5 Nm - Fasten the cable (terminal 50) to the clamps (3).
- Secure positive battery cable at the clamp (4).
- Version 2:
- Connect connectors (2) and lock.
The connector (2) must engage audibly.
- Tighten the nut (1) hand-tight.CAUTION: Improper routing of the positive battery cable.
Risk of short circuits!- Route the positive battery cable without abrasions and do not trap.
- Correctly attach the positive battery cable (1) to the anti-twist lock (2).
- Tighten the nut (3).
