Installing the positive battery cable from the starter motor to the auxiliary terminal for jump starting

Positive battery cable from the starter motor to the remote positive terminal

• Insert and install the positive battery cable (1).

• Guide positive battery cable (3) into the holder (arrow).
• Guide positive battery cable (3) into the starter motor.
• Hand-tighten the nut (2).
• Connect connectors (1) and lock.

  The connector (1) must engage audibly.

  CAUTION: Improper routing of the positive battery cable  .
  Risk of short circuits! 

  • Route the positive battery cable without abrasions and do not trap.
  NOTE: Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.

• Attach the positive battery cable (1) correctly to anti-twist lock (2).
• Tighten nut (3).
  TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
  
  

  Battery positive lead to starter
  M8	tightening torque	15 Nm

• Feed the positive battery cable (1) into the holder (arrows) and install it.

• Install the retaining plate (2).
• Replace nuts (1).

  Parts:  Nuts

• Tighten nuts (1).
  TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
  
  

  Retaining plates for vehicle underbody cover
  Sheet metal nut/plastic nut Replace nuts.	tightening torque	3 Nm

• Feed the positive battery cable (1) into the holder (arrow) and install it.

• Feed the positive battery cable (2) into the holder (arrows) and install it.
• Tighten nut (1).
  TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
  
  

  Battery positive lead to battery positive terminal
  M8	tightening torque	19 Nm

• Feed in and install the cover (2) in arrow direction. The locks (1) must engage audibly.
