24 11 042 Removing and installing/replacing gearbox oil cooler (AISIN F22AW)

Special tools required: 

• 16 1 070

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission!

Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the automatic transmission!

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove the FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
• Remove the INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
• Drain off TRANSMISSION OIL .

Removal: 

Unscrew sealing cap (1) on coolant expansion tank.

Release locks (1).

Disconnect coolant hoses from transmission oil cooler.

Collect the escaping coolant.

Release screws (1).

Remove gearbox oil cooler.

Seal the openings on the transmission oil cooler with special tool 16 1 070  .

Seal the openings on the transmission with special tool 16 1 070  .

Installation: 

Remove the special tool 16 1 070  from the openings on the transmission.

Remove the special tool 16 1 070  from the openings on the transmission oil cooler.

Parts:  Replace sealing ring (1).

Clean contact surface.

Moisten sealing ring (1) with clean transmission oil.

Install transmission oil cooler.

Tighten down screws (1).

Tightening torque, refer to: 22 11 4AZ .

Slide coolant hoses onto transmission oil cooler and engage locks (1).

Required follow-up work: 

• Top up COOLANT .
• Add TRANSMISSION FLUID .
• Install the INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
• Install the FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
• Carry out vehicle test.
