Remove the transmission wiring harness

Grease the threads of new oxygen sensors thinly and evenly.
For oxygen sensors that are reused, the following should be observed:
Thinly and evenly grease the oxygen sensor on the thread only. Do not clean the part of the oxygen sensor that does not protrude into the exhaust line (sensor ceramics) and do not grease.

Preliminary work

Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
Refer to REMOVING THE COVER OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE REAR LEFT .

- Loosen the lock (1)
- Remove the cover (2).
Covering the vehicle battery

- Cover the vehicle battery with the special tool 2 452 007 as shown.

Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).

Disengage clip of the wiring harness (1) with conventional expanding rivet jack.

Disengage the engine wiring harness on the holder (2).
Unlock transmission wiring harness in area (1) and disengage upwards.

WARNING: Working on fuel system .

When working on the fuel system, make sure the workstation has sufficient ventilation, e.g., by means of extraction.
Tightly seal off open lines and connections; collect any leakage fuel directly at the point of exit.
No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.

Unlock and disconnect the tank vent line (2).
Disengage holder (1) of the transmission wiring harness upwards.
Disengage transmission wiring harness (2) from the holders (1).
Detach transmission wiring harness and position on the cylinder head cover of cylinder bank 1.

Removing the front underbody protection

Release all bolts (arrows).
Push the front underbody protection (1) to the front slightly and guide out under the thrust field (2).

Removing the stiffening plate

Secure component against falling.

Driving without thrust field is not permissible.

Loosen screws (1).
Remove screws (arrows).
Pull out and remove the thrust field (3) on the covers of the steering assembly (2).

Remove transmission cross-member .

Support the transmission using special tools 0 495 498 (23 4 050) and 2 219 012 .
Secure the transmission with the luggage strap (1).

Release the screw (1) and remove.
Loosen screws (2).
Remove the transmission cross member (3).

Undo wiring harness (2) at the clips (1).

Disconnect cable tie (1).
Unlock plug connection (3) and disconnect.
Disengage latch mechanisms of the transmission wiring harness (2).
