Insert the exhaust turbocharger for the cylinders 1 to 3

Excessive force when removing and installing a jammed exhaust turbocharger may damage the electric wastegate valve controller .

- Do not pull on the electrical wastegate valve controller or on the coupling rod.
- Apply force only at the turbine housing and exhaust manifold.

When replacing the stud bolts, they must be coated with screw locking agent (Loctite 270).

- Clean the sealing surfaces (1) on the cylinder head using special tool 0 495 102 (11 4 470)

- Replace the seal (1).

- Replace the sealing ring (1) of the oil feed line (2) for cylinders 1 to 3 with special tool 0 496 714 (00 9 030)

- Guide in and install the seal (1).
- Make sure that the seal (1) is correctly
installed in the marked
area in the cylindrical pins.CAUTION: Heavy component .
Heavy components can lead to injury or damage .- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Guide the exhaust turbocharger (1) into the trim strip (2) and install it.
Protect the exhaust turbocharger (1) from falling.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Note the installation position of the component. The component can be installed in various installation positions. - Feed in and install the shifting strip (A).
- The original BMW part number of the sliding rail (A) must be legible
in the marked
area.

Failure to comply with the regulations can lead to leaks and damage. - Replace nuts (1) to (4).

Dry running due to insufficient initial filling of the exhaust turbocharger .
Damage to the exhaust turbocharger .- Be sure to do the initial filling when replacing the exhaust turbocharger.
- Fill the exhaust turbocharger with the matching additive (see applicable BMW parts catalogue).
- Fill exhaust turbocharger additive (1) into the bore (2) of the oil feed line.CONSUMABLE DESCRIPTION
Exhaust turbocharger additive, gasoline MSP 17 ml, Tube 83192457276 - Guide in and install the oil feed line (2) for cylinders 1 to 3.
- Tighten down screw (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Oil feed line for exhaust turbocharger to crankcase M6 x 12
Replace sealing ring.tightening torque 8 Nm - Clean the sealing surface (1) using special tool 0 495 102 (11 4 470)

- Check the sealing ring (1) for damage and replace the sealing ring (1) as needed.
- Check the sealing ring (1) for damage, replace the connecting brackets (2) for cylinders 4 to 6 if necessary.
- Guide in and install the connecting bracket (5) for cylinders 1 to 3.
- Tighten the screws (4).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Connecting brackets on exhaust turbocharger M6 tightening torque 8 Nm - Tighten down screw (3).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Connecting brackets on exhaust turbocharger M6 tightening torque 8 Nm - Connect and lock the connectors (1) and (2).
The connectors (1) must engage audibly.
Insert the exhaust turbocharger for the cylinders 4 to 6

Replace sealing ring.tightening torque 8 Nm - Insert and install the heat shield (2).
- Tighten screws (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Heat shield to cylinder head M8X17.5
Replace screws.tightening torque 10 Nm - Check seal (1) for damage, replace if necessary.
- Detach locks (1) from the holders in the arrow direction.
- Insert and install the charge air pipe (4) for the cylinders 4 to 6.
The lock (2) must engage audibly.
- Tighten down screw (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Charge air pipe for cylinders 4 to 6 on holder M6x25 tightening torque 8 Nm - Insert and install the charge air duct (3) for the cylinders 4 to 6.
The charge air duct (3) must engage audibly.
