Removing The Tailgate Hinge On The Left
Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING ALL BATTERY GROUND LEADS .
- Refer to REMOVE BOTH BACKREST SIDE SECTIONS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LEFT AND RIGHT SEAT BELT FINISHER STRIP .
- Refer to REMOVE RIGHT C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE TRIM PANEL FOR THE STORAGE SHELF .
- Refer to REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR COVERING .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LOADING EDGE TRIM .
- Refer to REMOVING THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM PANEL ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVE REAR SEAT BENCH .
- Refer to REMOVING THE REAR LEFT AND RIGHT UPPER SEAT BELTS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COVER TO THE STORAGE BOX .
- Refer to REMOVING THE SOUND INSULATION ON THE REAR SHELF .
Remove the tension spring for the trunk lid on the left
CAUTION:
Shutting hood or trunk lid

- Support hood/trunk lid in fully open position with the aid of a suitable device.

- Remove the ball socket (2) at the tailgate.
- Remove the ball socket (2) at the body.
- Slightly lift the retaining spring (3) as shown with a small screwdriver (4) and remove the ball socket (2) from the ball hub.
- Remove tension spring (1).NOTE: For a better overview the removed condition is shown here.
- Release wiring harness (1) from the hinge arm (arrows) and set it aside.NOTE: To provide a better overview: Schematic diagram with partially hidden components.
- Loosen nuts (1).
- Remove tailgate hinge (2) downwards.
