Removing the spring strut from the coil spring
WARNING:
Spring preload.

- Secure the coil spring with special tool 2 213 022 (31 3 340).
- Use special tool as per Owner's Manual and always observe the safety instructions.

Preliminary work

- Refer to DETACHING THE UPPER WISHBONE FROM THE SWIVEL BEARING .

- Remove the spring strut (1) with the auxiliary damper, the protective tube and the spring pad from the tensioned coil spring (2) .
- Pull the auxiliary damper, the protective tube and the spring pad off of the spring strut (1) .
