Removing flywheel

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

- BRINGING FRONT COMPARTMENT LID IN THE SERVICE POSITION .
- DEACTIVATE ON-BOARD NETWORK .
- REMOVING THE ACOUSTIC COVER .
- REMOVING THE SEAL FOR THE HOOD REAR .
- REMOVING ACOUSTIC COVER AT REAR .
- REMOVING THE FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- REMOVING THE UNDERBODY PROTECTION OF THE STEERING GEAR AND THRUST FIELD RESPECTIVELY .
- REMOVING THE CENTER UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- REMOVING THE UNDERBODY PLANKING OF THE TRANSMISSION ON THE SIDE .
- REMOVING REAR UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- REMOVING THE CONNECTING SUPPORT FROM THE TUNNEL .
- REMOVING THE TORSION STRUT ON THE REAR LEFT AND RIGHT .
- IF INSTALLED: REMOVING THE REAR AXLE COVER .
- REMOVING THE REAR DIFFUSER .
- REMOVING COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM .
- REMOVING STARTER MOTOR .
- REMOVING THE HEAT SHIELDS .
- REMOVING THE RETAINING PLATES .
- REMOVING TRANSMISSION CROSS-MEMBER .
- PARTIALLY LOOSENING THE PROP SHAFT .
- REMOVING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (GA8HP51Z) .

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Fasten the flywheel with the special tool 0 493 938 (11 9 260) and tighten with the special tool 0 494 130 (11 9 264).
- Release the screws (1) to (8) .

- Leave the electrical components in their original packaging until they are being installed. Only use the original packaging for returning the product. Always package removed components straight away.
- Read and comply with user information on using the associated special tool 12 7 060.
- Only tap the housings of electrical components. Do not tap pins or multi-pin connectors directly.
- Wear electrically conductive clothing and antistatic shoes (with ESD symbol).

- Feed out the pulse wheel (1) and remove.
- Protect the magnet wheel (1) from metal particles by keeping it in a plastic bag.
- The magnet wheel (1) is magnetic, place the magnet wheel (1) properly.
