Removing the lid for rear differential (M Sport differential)

WARNING: Vehicle may slip off the vehicle hoist if the vehicle hoist is handled incorrectly .

Observe safety instructions on raising the vehicle using a vehicle hoist.

WARNING: Car may slip off the vehicle hoist where components are supported .
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!

Secure the vehicle hoist against lowering and lifting.
Make sure that the vehicle does not lift off the mounting plates on the vehicle lift.

CAUTION: Acid combustions may result from skin contact with oil or inhaling oil vapors .
Risk of acid burns from contact with oil!

Wear safety goggles and hand protection.
Ensure adequate ventilation.

CAUTION: Contact with hazardous substances .

Note and comply with the Safety Instructions on the containers and the instructions on the manufacturer's safety data sheet.
Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to rear differential .
Failure to comply with the oil specifications can result in serious damage to the rear differential .

After completion of repair work, check the transmission oil level in the rear differential.
Use only the BMW approved final drive transmission oil. See the Fluid Capacities tab for the selected vehicle.

Loosen screws (1) .
Release and remove the lid (2) .
