- Check lifting eyes and engine mounting brackets for damage, e.g. cracks.
- Attach the component to correctly mounted engine joints or cross members only.
- Only lift the component, do not shift it forwards, backwards or in transverse direction.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Conduct the following operation with the assistance of a second person.

- Position the special tool 0 496 852 (00 6 100) carefully.
- Make sure that special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070) on the left is correctly positioned on the front end.
- Make sure that special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452)
on the left is correctly
positioned on the carrier support.
- Make sure that special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070) on the right is correctly positioned on the front end.
- Make sure that special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452)
on the right is correctly
positioned on the carrier support.
- Detach the special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070)
at the loop (1).
- Detach the special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070)
at the loop (1).
- Release the wiring harness mounting (1).
- Place the wiring harness (2) on the side.
- Check the special tool 0 496 080 (33 5 206) for damage or cracks before installation, replace if necessary.
- Feed the special tool 0 496 080 (33 5 206)
through the loop (3) and attach it on to the component carrier (4).
- Hook the special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070) into the spindle 2 361 506 (00 6 103) .
- Align the special tool 0 496 852 (00 6 100)
in such a way that the spindle 2 361 506 (00 6 103)
stays upright from the front as well as from the side.
- If necessary, slacken the nuts (1) and position the engine bridge (2).
- Check whether the special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070) on the right is correctly positioned on the front
end.
- Check whether the special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452) on the right is correctly positioned on the carrier
support.
- Check whether the special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070) on the left is correctly positioned on the front
end.
- Check whether the special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452)
on the left is correctly
positioned on the carrier support.
- Tension the chains of special tool 0 490 579 (11 0 070) slightly by turning special tool 2 361 506 (00 6 103) .
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Release the screw (1) on the engine support bracket (2).
- Retighten the special tool 0 496 080 (33 5 206) .
