Adjust the rear side window

Precondition 

Vehicle is supported on wheels at ground level.

Door window glass is correctly adjusted.

Battery charger connected (full operability of the power electric windows during the adjustment work is only assured with an external voltage supply)

• Open door. Shift door window pane into the uppermost position if necessary.
• Insert the special tool 0 496 693 (51 0 370)  into the rotary striker of the door lock and manually lock the rotary striker (the door window glass goes all the way up).
• Close the door carefully up to the point where the special tool 0 496 693 (51 0 370)  magnetically adheres to the striker (defined door opening angle for measurement).

• Measure the preload: 
• Measure distance (A)  between the rear side window (1)  and the inner edge of the door window glass (2)  .
• Measure approx. 10 mm under the upper edge of the window glass.
• Without mounted window recess finisher strip (rear):

• Adjusting the preload: 
• Feed in the special tool 0 494 645 (51 2 220)  on the power electric windows as shown.
• Turn the adjustment screw (1)  with the special tool 0 494 645 (51 2 220)  until the correct preload has been reached.
• The rear side window must correctly run into the convertible top seals when the convertible top is closed (only check if window recess finisher strip is mounted).

• Ideal setting of longitudinal direction and retraction depth: 
• Adjust the rear side window (1)  with distance (A)  parallel to the door window glass (2)  .

  Dimension A
  11±1 mm

• Adjust the rear side window (1)  with a recess (B)  to the door window glass (2)  .

  Recessed B
  2±0.5 mm

• Adjust longitudinal direction and retraction depth: 
• Attach the special tool 0 493 731 (51 3 220)  to the rear side window (1)  as shown.
• The retraction depth is predefined by the recess of the rear side window (1)  to the door window glass.

  Recessed B
  2±0.5 mm

• Adjust the recess by shifting the side window (1)  .

• Adjust the rear side window (1)  with distance (A)  parallel to the door window glass.

  Dimension A
  11±1 mm

• Tighten the multi-tooth screws (2)  using special tool 2 360 051  B.

• Check the longitudinal direction and the recess. Repeat the adjustment procedure if necessary.
