Install clutch

Improper cleaning of the self-adjusting clutch may cause functional impairments on the adjustment unit and the damping springs.

- Do not clean the self-adjusting clutch, clutch disc or pressure plate using a high pressure cleaner or in a washer.
- Clean friction surface only.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Install the clutch disc in the correct position.
Note the designations for "engine end"/"transmission side"!
Handle the clutch disc carefully. Do not touch the surfaces of the friction linings.

- Place the clutch disc (1) in the correct installation position in the clutch housing (2).
- Fit the special tool 2 348 126 and hand-tighten at the knurled screw (1).
- Screw in the spindle (1) until the diaphragm spring (2) is pre-tensioned up to the stop.
- Center the clutch with the special tool 0 494 649 (21 2 230) on the flywheel .
- Fix the clutch via the dowel pin (1).
- Install the self-adjusting clutch on the flywheel.
- Check whether the self-adjusting clutch is fixed by using the dowel pin.
- Replace the bolts (arrows).

- Insert and tighten screws (arrows).
TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

- Release the spindle (1) until the diaphragm spring (2) is fully relieved.
- Release the knurled screw (1) and remove the special tool 2 348 126 from the self-adjusting clutch.
- Hold the special tool 0 493 840 (21 2 180) at the handles (2) and release the knurled screws (1) simultaneously.
- Remove the special tool 0 493 840 (21 2 180) from the self-adjusting clutch.
- Pull out the special tool 0 494 649 (21 2 230) by using the accompanying screw (1) from the clutch disc.
