Installing the rear side window

• Use a scraper to remove the adhesive bead from the body and, if necessary, from the side window.
  NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
  Protect components against corrosion. Treat paint damage with corrosion protection.
• Remove the residues of guide pins (1) and the Dual Lock tape (2) and clean the bonding surfaces.

• Replace the Dual Lock tape (2).

  Parts:  Dual Lock tape

• Apply Dual-Lock tape (2) in the area shown on the body.

  Check 

• Check tabs (1) on the trim strip on the rear side window (2) for damage.

  Result 

  » The lugs (1) are damaged.

  Measure

• Replace trim strip on the rear side window (2).
• Clip the trim strip (1) at the rear side window (2) into place.

  a	Position of adhesive bead	2 ± 1 mm
  b	Width of adhesive bead	8 ± 2 mm
  C	Height of adhesive bead	13 + 2 mm

  When reusing side window:

  Remove remnants of the Dual-Lock tape (1).

  Clean the bonding surfaces and apply the new Dual Lock tape (1).

• Clean the bonding surfaces on the side window and the body.
• When reusing the side window, apply the adhesive bead to the cut back adhesive bead of the side window.
• When using a new side window, apply the adhesive bead to the cut back adhesive bead of the side window.
• Apply adhesive bead as shown along the PVC encapsulation (3).
• Apply bead joint in area (2).

  NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
  Conduct the following operation with the assistance of a second person.
• Align the side window (1) with the special tool 0 492 609 (51 3 010) on the side wall and guide in with the  guide pins.
• Press the side window (1) onto the Dual-Lock tape.
• Secure the side window (1) with the yellow plastic adhesive tape.
