- Before performing any installation work, allow cooling system to cool down to less than 40°C.
- Note warnings on cylinder head cover.

- Support component using a jack.
- Secure component against falling off the jack.

Preliminary work
- Remove the FRONT AXLE completely with the engine and transmission.
- Remove the ENGINE from the front axle.
- Install the ENGINE on the assembly jig.
- Release the OIL DRAIN PLUG
- Tighten the OIL DRAIN PLUG
- Remove charge AIR LINE .
- Remove rear ACOUSTIC COVER .
- Remove all IGNITION COILS .
- Remove all SPARK PLUGS .
- Remove the HIGH PRESSURE LINE between the high pressure pump and the rail.
- Remove HIGH PRESSURE PUMP .
- Remove the cylinders 1 to 3 RAIL with injectors.
- Remove the cylinders 4 to 6 RAIL with injectors.
- Remove both ACTUATORS .
- Remove the cylinder head COVER .
- Remove tank VENT VALVE .
- Remove the INTAKE PLENUM .
- Remove the lambda OXYGEN SENSOR .
- Remove the OXYGEN SENSOR MONITOR .
- Remove CATALYTIC CONVERTER .
- Remove the exhaust turbocharger OIL RETURN LINE .
- Remove the COOLANT LINE between the coolant pump and cylinder head.
- Block ENGINE in TDC firing position.
- Remove CHAIN TENSIONER .
- Release the intake adjuster VANOS CENTRAL VALVE .
- Release the exhaust camshaft adjuster VANOS CENTRAL VALVE .
- Remove the intake adjuster VANOS CENTRAL VALVE .
- Remove the exhaust camshaft adjuster VANOS CENTRAL VALVE .
- Remove intake ADJUSTER .
- Remove exhaust camshaft ADJUSTER .
- Remove the TEST GAUGES for securing the camshafts.
- Remove the CYLINDER HEAD .
- Remove the cylinder HEAD GASKET .
- Remove the VIBRATION DAMPER .
- Remove FLYWHEEL .
- Remove front axle DIFFERENTIAL .
- Remove BEARING BRACKET
- Remove OIL PAN .
- Remove oil VACUUM PUMP .
- Remove the OIL DEFLECTOR .
- Remove all PISTONS with connecting rod.
- Remove rear timing case COVER .
- Remove TIMING CHAIN .
- Remove CRANKSHAFT .
