41 51 040 Removing/Installing/Replacing Left Or Right Front Door Outer Skin
NOTE:
Observe procedures for REPAIR STAGE 1 .
Read contents of BODY, GENERAL .
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove OUTER DOOR HANDLE ON FRONT DOOR
- Remove WEATHER STRIP on front door
- Remove FRONT DOOR
The following body new parts are required:
- Clip, quantity: 7
Removal
Release exterior mirror trim (1) at latch mechanism (2) and remove.
Installation note:
Latch (2) must not be missing or damaged.
- Release door outer skin outwards from the bottom side with a forceful jerk.
- Then pull door outer skin upwards in door handle area and remove.
Remove clips (1) from adjusting elements.
NOTE:
Adjusting elements are pre-adjusted.
Do not turn adjusting elements.
Adjust door outer skin if necessary.
If necessary, blow out remnants (1) of clips from top opening (1) to bottom opening (2) of door window frame using compressed air.
New part preparation
Insert new clips into door outer skin.
Pay attention to foam support (1). If necessary, replace foam support.
NOTE:
A missing foam support may lead to rattling noises.
Installation
NOTE:
On installation, the centering aid (1) of the door outer skin must fit in the recess (2) on the door window frame.
NOTE:
On installation, the positioning aids (1) must fit into the recesses (2) on the door window frame.
Reverse installation order to remove the door outer skin.
