Check the coefficient of friction for the crankshaft

Check 

• Turn the crankshaft clockwise with the special tool 0 490 130 (00 2 010)  and compare the reading on the scale to the maximum permitted torque.

Result 

» The maximum permitted torque is exceeded.

Measure 

• Correct the radial clearance.

Check 

• Check the classification of the main bearing shells and guide bearing shells.

Result 

» Classification of the main bearing shells and the guide bearing shells is incorrect.

Measure 

• Correct the classification of the main bearing shells and guide bearing shells.

Check 

• Check whether the main bearing shells and the guide bearing shells are correctly installed.

Result 

» The main bearing shells and the guide bearing shells are not correctly installed.

Measure 

• Correctly install the main bearings shells and the guide bearing shells.

Follow-up work 

• Install all PISTONS with connecting rod.
• Install the OIL DEFLECTOR .
• Install the TIMING CHAINS .
• Install the rear timing case COVER .
• Install the oil VACUUM PUMP .
• Refit ENGINE OIL PAN
• Replace the rear crankshaft SEAL .
• Replace the front crankshaft SEAL .
• Install the MAGNET WHEEL .
• Install the FLYWHEEL .
• Install the VIBRATION DAMPER .
• Install the alternator DRIVE BELT .
• Tighten the oil DRAIN PLUG .
• Clean sealing SURFACES .
• Install the cylinder HEAD GASKET .
• Install the CYLINDER HEAD .
• Block the CRANKSHAFT in the TDC firing position of the first cylinder (automatic transmission).
• Block the CAMSHAFTS
• Install the intake ADJUSTER .
• Install exhaust camshaft ADJUSTER .
• Preload TIMING CHAIN .
• Tighten the VANOS CENTRAL VALVE .
• Crank ENGINE twice (automatic transmission).
• Disassemble all SPECIAL TOOLS .
• Install the COOLANT FEED LINE (coolant return line is removed).
• Install the rear section of the COOLANT RETURN LINE (front section removed).
• Install the front section of the COOLANT RETURN LINE .
• Install the AUXILIARY COOLANT PUMP .
• Install the INTAKE PLENUM .
• Install the tank VENT VALVE .
• Tighten the OIL FILTER CAP .
• Secure the engine block OIL FEED LINE .
• Install the exhaust turbocharger OIL RETURN LINE .
• Install the exhaust turbocharger SUPPORT .
• Install STARTER MOTOR .
• Install cylinder head COVER .
• Install the cylinders 4 to 6 INJECTORS .
• Install the cylinders 1 to 3 INJECTORS .
• PREPARE for the installation of the high pressure pump.
• Install HIGH PRESSURE PUMP .
• Install the HIGH-PRESSURE LINE between the high-pressure rail and the high-pressure pump.
• Install the IGNITION COILS .
• Install front engine ENCAPSULATION .
• Install both ACTUATORS (engine removed).
• Install charge AIR LINE .
• Install bottom clean AIR PIPE .
• Install front axle DIFFERENTIAL .
• Install BEARING BRACKET
• Remove the ENGINE from the assembly jig.
• Top up the MOTOR OIL .
• Install the right engine mount HOLDER .
• Install CATALYTIC CONVERTER .
• Install the oxygen sensor MONITOR .
• Install the LAMBDA OXYGEN SENSOR
• Check engine OIL LEVEL .
• Mount the ENGINE on the front axle.
• Install the complete FRONT AXLE including engine and transmission.
