Removing and installing/replacing left or right wishbone
Attention!
If the wishbone is replaced as a result of an accident, it is imperative to replace the SWIVEL BEARING as well!
Do not deflect ball joint pin from wishbone by > 25° during removal and installation. Otherwise, the gaiter is damaged and the ball joint will show premature wear and tear!
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove FRONT WHEEL .
- Remove STEERING ASSEMBLY COVER .
Removal:
Left side:
Slacken nut (1).
Remove jointed rod (2) from wishbone.
Release nut (1), if necessary, grip at inner Torx socket.
Slacken nut (1).
Left side: Remove the holder with the ride height sensor.
Remove screw (2).
Remove wishbone (3).
Installation:
Position the wishbone (3) on the front axle support.
Part : Replace screw (2).
Insert the screw (2) from the front.
Left side: Connect the holder with the ride height sensor to the screw (2).
Part : Replace nut (1).
Tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 31 12 3AZ .
Installation note:
Bolt head points in direction of travel.
Keep wishbone to swivel bearing connection clean and free from oil and grease.
Insert the wishbone in the swivel bearing.
Part : Replace nut (1).
Tighten nut (1), if required counter support at Torx socket.
Tightening torque 31 12 4AZ .
Left side:
Insert the jointed rod (2) on the wishbone.
Part : Replace nut (1).
Tighten nut (1).
Tightening torque 37 14 4AZ .
Required follow-up work:
- Install the STEERING ASSEMBLY COVER .
- Install FRONT WHEEL .
- Carry out wheel alignment procedure. Refer to CARRY OUT KINEMATICS DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH VEHICLE LOAD UP TO DESIGN POSITION or KINEMATICS DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM WHEEL ALIGNMENT WITH RIDE HEIGHT MEASUREMENT WITHOUT LOADING THE VEHICLE .
