Replacing air conditioning compressor (S55 engine)
Special tools required:
- 00 9 030
- 32 1 270
Refrigerant circuit is under high pressure!
Avoid contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil.
Read and comply with safety instructions:
Restart engine only when A/C system has been correctly filled.
Read and comply with notes on COMPRESSOR REPLACEMENT .
Follow notes for OPENING AND REPLACING PARTS IN REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .
If Air conditioning is opened for more than 24 h:
REPLACE CONDENSER FOR AIR CONDITIONING .
Necessary preliminary work:
- Drain off the AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM .
- Remove DRIVE BELT FOR ALTERNATOR .
- Remove LEFT INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
- PARTIALLY REMOVE EXPANSION TANK FOR COOLANT .
Removal:
Release screw (1) from below.
Release screws (4) and remove refrigerant lines (3). Unfasten plug connection (2) and disconnect.
Release screws (5).
Feed out compressor (1) in upward direction.
Installation:
Replacement:
Danger of customer complaints due to reduced cooling power of the Air conditioning!
Before the installation of the new compressor, it is absolutely necessary to adjust the amount of refrigerant oil in the new compressor!
Follow applicable SAFETY INFORMATION .
Insert the compressor (1) and position it correctly. Tighten down screws (5).
Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ .
Position refrigerant lines (3) correctly.
Tighten down screws (4).
Tightening torque 64 52 1AZ .
Connect plug connection (2).
Use special tool 00 9 030 to mount sealing rings without damaging them.
Tighten the screw (1) from the bottom.
Tightening torque 64 52 3AZ .
After installation:
- Evacuate and fill the AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM .
