Removing and installing/replacing coolant expansion tank (S55 engine)

IMPORTANT: Make sure without fail that coolant hoses are correctly routed. Risk of damage due to sharp edges or chafing.

Necessary preliminary work:

Pinch off coolant hoses on coolant expansion tank using the appropriate pinch-off tools.
Remove left INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .

Removal:

Unlock and pull off coolant hose (1) from top of expansion tank (2).

Release screw (3).

Release connector (4) on holder

Release expansion tank (2) from the rubber mounts and lift,

Unlock and disconnect plug on coolant level switch (1).

Unlock and detach coolant hose (2).

Lift out expansion tank (3).

Installation:

Attach connector to coolant level switch (1) and lock.

Connector (1) must snap audibly into place.

Attach coolant hose (2) and lock.

The coolant hose (2) must engage audibly.

Expansion tank must engage in the rubber mounts.

Tighten expansion tank (2) laterally with screw (3) on body.

Tightening torque 17 10 5AZ .

Attach coolant hose (1) and lock.

The coolant hose (1) must audibly engage.

Fasten connector (4) to the holder.
