Removing and installing/replacing oxygen control sensor of cylinders 4-6 (S55 engine)
Special tools required:
- 11 7 030
- 11 9 150
Repair should only be carried out on an exhaust system that has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Disconnect BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
- Remove CORROSION PROTECTION COVER .
Removal:
Disconnect plug connection on oxygen control sensor (1).
Unclip the oxygen control sensor cable from the bracket (4).
Undo nuts and bolts (1).
Remove the sealing frame (2) for the blower.
Release oxygen control sensor (1) with special tools 11 7 030 and 11 9 150 with a suitable extension (2).
Installation:
Insert front oxygen sensor (1) and install.
Tighten oxygen control sensor (1) with special tools 11 7 030 and 11 9 150 with a suitable extension (2).
Tightening torque 11 78 1AZ .
Attention!
When using special tool 11 7 030 in conjunction with special tool 11 9 150, it is essential to reduce the prescribed tightening torque by 3 Nm.
Installation note:
The threads of new oxygen control sensors are already coated with NEVER-SEEZ compound.
If a oxygen control sensor is to be reused, apply a thin and even coating of Never Seez compound to the thread only.
The part of the lambda control sensor which projects into the exhaust system branch (sensor ceramics) must not be cleaned and not coated with lubricant.
Connect and lock the plug connection of the front oxygen sensor (1).
Connector (1) must engage audibly.
Secure the oxygen control sensor cable on the clamp (4).
Insert sealing frame (2) for the blower and remove.
Apply tightening force to screws and nuts (1).
Required follow-up work:
- Install the CORROSION PROTECTION COVER .
- Connect BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
