Removing and installing/replacing both solenoid valves (S55 engine)

Attention! 

When disassembling and installing the VANOS solenoid valve, inlet and VANOS solenoid valve, exhaust, adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness.

Possible malfunction if there is dirt contamination in the valves:

• Rough running
• OBD fault entry
• Exhaust gas emission characteristics
• Low engine performance

Attention! 

Read and comply with notes on PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION) !

Necessary preliminary work: 

• Remove RIGHT INTAKE FILTER HOUSING .
• Remove FRONT AIR DUCT .

Disconnect the plug connection (1) on VANOS solenoid valve, inlet.

Release the screw (3) on VANOS solenoid valve, inlet.

Pull off the solenoid valve (2) by turning lightly.

Disconnect the plug connection (6) on VANOS solenoid valve, exhaust.

Release the screw (4) on VANOS solenoid valve, exhaust.

Pull off the solenoid valve (5) by turning lightly.

Tightening torque 11 36 3AZ .

Remove O-ring (2).

Remove support ring (1).

Installation note: 

Replace support ring and O-rings.

Assemble engine.

Check function of DME.
