Removing And Installing Tailgate (M4 GTS Coupe, 2016 Only)

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .
• Disconnect all cable plug connections and pull wiring harness out of tailgate.

Removal: 

Release screws (1) and remove reinforcement plate (2).

Symmetrically perform this operation on the other side of the vehicle.

Slacken screws (1) on both sides of vehicle and remove tailgate with a second person.

Installation: 

Position tailgate with a second person and ADJUST .

Tighten down screws (1) on both sides of vehicle.

Tightening torque 41 62 TAILGATE .

Position reinforcement plate (2) and tighten screws (1).

Tightening torque 41 62 TAILGATE .

Symmetrically perform this operation on the other side of the vehicle.

Required reworking: 

• Install the TAILGATE TRIM PANEL .
