Removing and installing/replacing left or right front brake caliper

Necessary preliminary work:

Read and comply with GENERAL INFORMATION .
Remove FRONT BRAKE PADS .

Removal:

Press brake pedal down to floor and secure with pedal support.

NOTE: The pedal support may only be released when the brake lines are reconnected.
This prevents brake fluid from emerging from the expansion tank and air from entering the system when the brake lines are opened.

Release screws (1), remove brake caliper (2) towards rear.

Pull out retaining clip (1) upwards.

Disconnect brake hose from brake line (2).

Detach brake hose (2) from brake caliper (1).

Installation:

CAUTION: Make sure that the brake hose is routed correctly!

Position the brake caliper.

Replace screws (1).

Insert screws (1) and tighten.

Installation note:

Tightening torque 34 11 2AZ .

Mount brake hose (2) on brake caliper (1) and tighten.

Tightening torque 34 32 2AZ .

CAUTION: First tighten brake hose on brake caliper.
Move wheels into straight-ahead position.
Never twist brake hose when installing it and avoid all contact with parts attached rigidly to the body.

Mount brake hose (3) on brake line (2) and tighten.

CAUTION: Grip brake hose at square head (3) so that connecting piece cannot rotate in retaining bracket.

Tightening torque 34 32 1AZ .

Fit retaining clip (1).

Remove pedal support.

Required follow-up work:

Install front BRAKE PADS .
Bleed BRAKE SYSTEM .
