Removing and installing/replacing both base plates (M4 Convertible)

Special tools required: 

• 2 288 010

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

• Remove COWL PANEL COVER .

A mixed installation of versions is not permitted.

Measure distance (A) from the roller (1) to the base plate (2).

• Version prior to 04/2014 - A = 0.3 mm
• Version as of 04/2014 - A = 1.7 mm

When replacing, both base plates must be installed with a version as of 04/2014.

Replace both base plates (2) if necessary.

Disconnect and unclip cables (1).

Release screws (2) and remove base plate.

Installation note: 

Insert base plate (1) and thread on screws (2).

Install special tool 2 288 010.

Groove (3) on special tool must not be visible.

Tighten down screws (2).

Tightening torque 54 37 23AZ .

Replacement: 

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 54 37 26AZ .

Remount microswitch (2).

Base plate version prior to 04/2014: 3  washers per side.

Base plate version as of 04/2014: 2  washers per side.

If necessary, remove the guide pins (2) and adapt the number of washers.

Tightening torque 54 47 32AZ .

After remounting, the window glass setting will need to be checked and corrected where necessary. Refer to ADJUSTING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE WINDOW (M4) .
