Removing and installing (replacing) left, rear light (on side wall) (M4 Convertible)

Special tools required:

IMPORTANT: Risk of paint damage!

Tape off entire area (1) with yellow plastic adhesive tape.

Loosen trim (1) on latch mechanisms and remove.

Installation note:

Make sure cover (1) is correctly seated.

Latch mechanisms (1) and guides (2) on trim (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Unscrew nuts (1).

Tightening torque 63 21 1AZ .

IMPORTANT: The rear light is secured in the body with a latch!

In the interests of avoiding damage to the rear light and the paintwork the following text describes how to release the latch.

NOTE: Similar to graphic.

Detach the rear light (2) in direction of arrow from the latch mechanism (1).

Unlock associated plug connection and disconnect.

Remove rear light (2).

Installation note:

Make sure that rear light (2) is correctly locked.

Latch (1) must not be missing or damaged.

Guide (2) and seal (3) must not be damaged or missing.

Replacement:

If necessary, REMOUNT BULBS .

Check gap dimensions using special tool 00 9 340 on rear light (1) and (2), adjust if necessary.

Short length of rear light (1) to rear light (2) is 0 ± 1.5 mm.

Installation note:

Adjust the gap dimension of rear light (1) by twisting the adjusting elements (2).
