Removing the side airbag from the front seat

Precondition
- Adjust front seat to maximum forward and upward settings.
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
Preliminary work
- Refer to DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE OF THE SYSTEM BATTERY .
- Refer to REMOVING REAR PANEL ON THE FRONT SEAT BACKREST .

- Before performing any work on the airbag, always disconnect the battery ground lead from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

- If necessary, release cable tie (1)
.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Different variants may be installed depending on the vehicle equipment .- Unlock the detents and feed out the connector (2) from the connector housing (3) in arrow direction.
- Only in the case of F44 and F39
- Open zipper (1) .
- Detach the seat cover (2)
from the backrest frame in area (3)

- Detach the seat cover (1)
from the backrest frame in area (2)

- Fold backrest cover (2) to one side.
- Loosen nuts (1)

- Feed out side airbag (1)
downwards out of cover pocket (2)
