23 00 038 Installing exchange transmission (GS6-17BG/DG)

Attention!

After completion of work, CHECK GEARBOX OIL LEVEL.

Use only approved gearbox oil. Refer to: MANUAL TRANSMISSION - OPERATING FLUIDS

Failure to comply with this instruction will result in serious damage to the transmission.

Recycling:

Catch and dispose of escaping transmission oil.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Drain transmission oil at oil drain plug. Tightening torque, refer to: 23 00 2AZ .
Remove the TRANSMISSION .

Remount gearshift rod joint (2).

Slide back circlip (3) and drive out cylindrical pin (1).

Check damping disc (1) in gearshift rod joint (2) on damage and replace, if necessary.

Remount the following parts to the new transmission.

Remount the RELEASE BEARING AND RELEASE LEVER
Ball pin and wire spring clip
Stud bolts for clutch slave cylinder
Remount the transmission housing sound insulation.
If necessary, reversing light switch
Tightening torque, refer to: 23 14 1AZ .
If applicable, re-insert gear sensor, screws using Loctite.
Tightening torque, refer to: 23 14 2AZ .
Remount the exhaust system holder.

Reassemble the vehicle.

Check oil level.

Installation note:

Observe greasing specification.

Required follow-up work:

Install the TRANSMISSION .
Drain transmission oil at oil drain plug.
Tightening torque, refer to: 23 00 2AZ .
