12 51 240 Remove and install/replace the engine wiring harness of sensor system module 2 (B48)

Read and comply with NOTES ON PROTECTION AGAINST ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD PROTECTION)!

Necessary preliminary work:

Disconnect the BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD .
Remove the DESIGN COVER .
Remove the INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
Remove the CORROSION PROTECTION COVER .

Loosen the clamps along the arrows.

Loosen screw (1).

Pull out the cable channel (2) and put it aside.

Remove cover (1).

Unlock and detach connector (1) along the direction of the arrow.

Unlock and disconnect plugs (2).

Unlock and disconnect plugs (3).

Unlock cable clips (4) and release.

Unlock cable clips (5) and release.

Thread out wiring harness sensor system 2 and place to side.

Unlock and release clamp (1).

Undo the locks along the arrow.

Pull out the cable channel (2) and put it aside.

Unlock and disconnect following connectors and lines
Unlock connector on hot film air mass meter and disconnect
Unlock and pull off the connector from both the solenoid valves for camshaft adjustment
Unlock the connector of the component temperature sensor and pull off
Unlock connector on intake camshaft pulse sensor and disconnect
Unlock connector on exhaust camshaft pulse sensor and disconnect
Unlock and pull off the connector from the rail pressure sensor on the rail
Unlock and pull off connector of high pressure pump
Unlock and pull off the connector on clean air pipe below
Unlock and pull off connector on monitoring oxygen sensor
Unlock and pull off connector on front oxygen sensor
Unlock connector on exhaust turbocharger and disconnect
Unlock connector on heating element for air duct and disconnect
Unlock and pull off connector from heat management module
Unlock connector on tank vent valve and disconnect

Release wiring harness if necessary from existing clips and clamps.

Feed out wiring harness and remove.

Thread and install wiring harness sensor system (2).

Attach clamps along the arrows.

Tighten screw (1).

Tightening torque, refer to: 12 52 2AZ .

Unlock and disconnect following connectors and lines
Connect and lock the connector of hot film air mass meter.
Connect and lock the connector of both solenoid valves for camshaft adjustment.
Connect and lock the connector of the component temperature sensor.
Connect and lock the connector of pulse sensor for intake camshaft.
Connect and lock the connector of pulse sensor for exhaust camshaft.
Connect and lock the connector for the rail pressure sensor on the rail.
Connect and lock the connector of high pressure pump.
Connect and lock the connector on bottom clean air pipe.
Connect and lock connector of monitoring oxygen sensor.
Connect and lock connector of front oxygen sensor.
Connect and lock the connector of exhaust turbocharger.
Connect and lock the connector of heating element for air duct.
Connect and lock the connector of heat management module.
Connect and lock the connector for the tank vent valve.

Thread in cable channel (2) and install.

Lock the locks along the arrows.

Locks must engage audibly.

Secure clamp (1).

Thread and install wiring harness sensor system 2 (1).

Secure cable clip (2).

Secure cable clip (3).

Connect connector (4) and lock.

Connect connector (5) and lock.

Connect and lock connector (6) along the direction of the arrow.

All connectors must audibly engage.

Install cover (1).

Installation note:

Check the wiring harness installation arrangement.

All connectors must audibly engage.

Check that the plug connections are correctly fitted.

Check stored error/fault messages.

Delete the fault memory.

Required reworking:

Install the CORROSION PROTECTION COVER .
Install the INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
Install the DESIGN COVER .
Connect the BATTERY EARTH LEAD .
