12 14 550 Replacing the control unit of the Digital Motor Electronics (After vehicle diagnosis): Notes

Prerequisite
- Ignition is switched off.

Working on 12 V electrical system.

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING RIGHT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM PANEL
- Disconnecting the battery earth lead
- Refer to UNINSTALL COVER FOR THE DME CONTROL UNIT
- Refer to DISCONNECTING CONNECTOR FROM DME CONTROL UNIT AND FROM POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (PDM)
Follow-up work
- Refer to CONNECT THE CONNECTOR TO THE DME CONTROL UNIT AND THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX (PDM)
- Refer to INSTALL COVER FOR THE DME CONTROL UNIT
- Connecting the battery earth lead
- Install right luggage compartment trim panel
- If the DME control unit is replaced, perform PROGRAMMING/ENCODING of the control unit.
