11 13 010 Removing and installing/replacing upper oil sump section (N63) (X6 xDrive 50i)
Special tools required:
- 11 9 240
- 11 8 780
Necessary preliminary work:
- Drain off ENGINE OIL .
- LOWERING FRONT AXLE .
- Remove LOWER OIL SUMP SECTION .
- Remove OIL PUMP .
- Remove FRONT AXLE DIFFERENTIAL .
- REMOVE right output shaft.
- Release supply/return lines on oil filter
- Release holders of supply/return lines on oil sump
Detach plug from oil pressure switch Unclip wiring harness on oil sump
Release oil filter cover (1) with special tool 11 9 240.
Tightening torque 11 42 1AZ .

Loosen transmission end screw (1).
Version A:
Attention: risk of damage to four-wheel drive oil sump .
Release screws in sequence 27 to 3.
Risk of damage!
For safety, hold the oil sump with a second person.
Release screws 1 and 2 and remove the oil sump.
Version B:
Attention: risk of damage to four-wheel drive oil sump .
Release screws in sequence 26 to 3.
Risk of damage!
For safety, hold the oil sump with a second person.
Release screws 1 and 2 and remove the oil sump.
Apply a drop of sealing compound 2.1 centrally to all separation points of the crankcase.
Installation note:
special tool 11 8 780 is only necessary if transmission is removed.
Position special tool 11 8 780 with transmission bolts (1) so that the oil sump is lined up with the engine block.
Attach upper oil sump section.

On the transmission end, screw all the screws (1) with 5 Nm.
Version A:
Installation note:
Mount all screws in the sequence 1 to 27 with 27 Nm.
Retorque all the screws in the sequence 1 to 27 with 27 Nm.
Exchange screws 1 and 2 with a microencapsulated screw and fasten with 27 Nm .
Version B:
Installation note:
Mount all screws in the sequence 1 to 26 with 27 Nm.
Retorque all the screws in the sequence 1 to 26 with 27 Nm.
Exchange screws 1 and 2 with a microencapsulated screw and fasten with 27 Nm.
Screw transmission end screws (1) with torque.
Tightening torque 24 00 1AZ .
Assemble engine.
