61 31 008 Removing and installing steering column switch cluster

WARNING: Move wheels into straight-ahead position and do not alter this position during the repair work.
Do not under any circumstances turn the steering column switch cluster when the steering wheel is removed.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove steering wheel. See REMOVING STEERING WHEEL , REMOVING SPORT STEERING WHEEL , or REMOVING M SPORTS STEERING WHEEL .
Remove LOWER SECTION OF STEERING COLUMN TRIM

Removal:

Unfasten screws (2).

Remove steering column switch cluster (1) in direction of arrow.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Remove steering column switch cluster (2).

Installation:

Connect the connector (1).

Installation note:

Check zero position of clock spring on steering column switch cluster.

Neutral position is correct only when the green or yellow mark (1) is clearly visible!

Install steering column switch cluster (3) in direction of arrow.

Tighten down screws (2).

Tightening torque 61 31 3AZ .

Required follow-up work:

Install steering wheel. See INSTALLING STEERING WHEEL , INSTALLING SPORT STEERING WHEEL , or INSTALLING M SPORTS STEERING WHEEL .
INSTALL STEERING COLUMN SHROUD LOWER SECTION
