11 71 100 Removing and installing/replacing exhaust-gas recirculation cooler (N57)

NOTE: The adaptation values must be reset after cleaning the exhaust-gas recirculation valve or replacing the exhaust-gas recirculation cooler.

WARNING: Risk of burning!
Only perform this repair work on an engine that has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary work:

Release screws (1).

Installation note:

Replace gasket.

Tightening torque: 11 71 2AZ .

Release screws (1).

Installation note:

Grease screws with ASSEMBLY PASTE 4.2 .

Tightening torque: 11 71 1AZ .

Loosen the electric changeover valve (2) at the retaining clip (1) and pull off in direction of arrow.

Detach vacuum line (3) from electric changeover valve (2).

Release screw (4).

Tightening torque: 11 71 3AZ .

Tightening torque: 11 71 3AZ .

Installation note:

When replacing the exhaust-gas recirculation cooler, modify the exhaust-gas recirculation valve.

Replace all gaskets.

Replace pipe neck on EGR cooler.

Ensure that the pipe neck is mounted without tension.

Note screw sequence at the exhaust-gas guide module.

Tighten screwed connection in sequence (1 to 5).

Assemble engine.
