11 65 180 Removing and installing/replacing heat shield at top (N63)
IMPORTANT:
Do not carry out test drives without heat shield (risk of fire!).
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove ENGINE COVER .
- Remove HOLDER FOR ENGINE WIRING HARNESS .
- Remove both control sensors. See REPLACING LEFT CONTROL SENSOR and REPLACING RIGHT CONTROL SENSOR .
Release retaining clip (1) of right and left monitoring sensor.
Detach wire ring (2) and set down behind oxygen sensor.
Release screws (1) but do not unscrew fully.
Tightening torque 11 65 3AZ .
Unfasten screws (2).
Remove sleeves (3) from heat shield.
Installation note:
For sleeve (3) of the control sensor on the right, watch out for the mark, see arrow.
Assemble engine.
