11 53 000 Removing and installing/replacing coolant thermostat (PHEV)

Recycling
Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.
Catch and dispose of drained coolant in a suitable container.
IMPORTANT:
Protect plug connections against coolant and contamination.
Cover plug connections with suitable materials.
Cover plug connections with suitable materials.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove clean air pipe. See REMOVING LOWERING CLEAN AIR PIPE and REMOVING TOP CLEAN AIR PIPE .
- Remove ENGINE VENTILATION LINE .
Removal:
Disconnect plug connection (1).
Disconnect coolant hoses (2-4) on thermostat with CLAMPING TONGS .
Disconnect coolant hoses (2-4) from thermostat.
Release screws (5) and remove thermostat.
Installation:
Position thermostat, tighten bolts (5).
Tightening torque 11 53 1AZ .
Connect coolant hoses (2-4) to the thermostat.
Remove the SELF-GRIP CLAMPS from coolant hoses (2-4) on thermostat.
Plug in plug connection (1).
Installation note:
Top up COOLANT .
