Remove/install/replace exhaust manifold at left (S63 B44 T 0/2) (X5 M)

Special tools required:

2 249 161

WARNING: Risk of burning!
Only perform this repair work on an engine that has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary taste:

Remove left TURBOCHARGER .
Remove right TURBOCHARGER .
Remove ALTERNATOR .

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 11 65 6AZ .

Remove heat shield (2).

Remove heat shield (2) on left and right.

Release screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 8).

Remove exhaust manifold, bank 2.

Installation note:

Replace gasket.

Remove exhaust manifold, bank 1.

Installation note:

Replace gasket.

Installation note:

Replace gasket (1) for banks 1 and 2.

Seal beads faces the exhaust manifold.

Position universal bank exhaust manifold, bank 1.

Screw in special tool 2 249 161 into position (3 and 4).

Tightening torque: 11 62 1AZ .

Join screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 2) to 10 Nm.

Remove special tool 2 249 161 and insert screws with spacer sleeves into position (3 and 4) and join to 10 Nm.

Insert screws with spacer sleeves at position (5 to 8).

Secure all screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 8).

Tightening torque: 11 62 2AZ .

Position universal bank exhaust manifold, bank 2.

Screw in special tool 2 249 161 at position (3 and 4).

Tightening torque: 11 62 1AZ .

Join screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 2) to 10 Nm.

Remove special tool 2 249 161 and insert screws with spacer sleeves into position (3 and 4) and join to 10 Nm.

Insert screws with spacer sleeves at position (5 to 8).

Secure all screws with spacer sleeves (1 to 8).

Tightening torque: 11 62 2AZ .

Replace gaskets (1).

Assemble engine.
