Remove/install/replace engine oil cooler (N63 B40/B44 01, S63 B44 T 2) (X5 M)

WARNING: Risk of scalding! Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.

IMPORTANT: Wear safety goggles and protective gloves.

Necessary preliminary work:

Remove FRONT RIGHT WHEEL ARCH COVER.

IMPORTANT: Adhere to conditions of absolute cleanliness when repairing the engine oil circuit. When removing engine oil pipes and engine oil cooler, seal off all openings with suitable plugs. To avoid engine damage, do not allow any dirt particles to get into the engine oil circuit.

Recycling:

Engine oil escapes when engine oil pipes are released. Catch and dispose of emerging engine oil.

Observe country-specific waste disposal regulations.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 17 22 12AZ .

Slightly pull engine oil cooler towards the rear until the engine oil pipes are accessible.

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque 17 22 11AZ .

Pull off engine oil pipes from engine oil cooler flange.

Remove engine oil cooler.

Installation note:

Replace sealing rings.

Catch and dispose of emerging oil.

When replacing engine oil cooler:

Remount air duct (1).

NOTE: After the repair work is completed, check the ENGINE OIL LEVEL . Top up engine oil if necessary.
